Official Kodi 17 requires Android 5.0 or later, so Android 4.4 does not meet its requirements. Check whether your exact box has a manufacturer-supported update before trying another installation. How to set up IPVanish for streaming
  1. Check your viewing option. Confirm the exact event or title is offered by the streaming service, and check its travel, account and VPN rules.
  2. Install and sign in. Choose an IPVanish plan, then use its official device setup guide to install the appropriate app and sign in.

Why Kodi 17 needs newer Android

Kodi’s Krypton release announcement sets Android 5.0 as the minimum for Kodi 17. Android 4.4 does not meet that official requirement.

Treat this as a historical requirement for Kodi 17. Meeting it does not establish that every current app or release will work on your device.

Check your box before changing software

Record the Android version and exact model shown on your device. Look for update instructions from its manufacturer rather than assuming a similarly named box uses the same software.

  2. Look for a manufacturer-supported update for that exact model.
  3. If the device cannot meet the app requirements, use a supported device instead of relying on an unverified compatibility claim.
