A VPN routes your traffic through a server in a location you choose. Websites see the server’s IP address instead of your usual one. This can help with some location-based access restrictions, while encrypting the connection from your device to the VPN server.

How to set up IPVanish for streaming
  1. Check your viewing option. Confirm the exact event or title is offered by the streaming service, and check its travel, account and VPN rules.
  2. Install and sign in. Choose an IPVanish plan, then use its official device setup guide to install the appropriate app and sign in.
  3. Choose a location and connect. Select a server in the location you want to use. For travel access, check that the service permits your account to watch from there. Wait until IPVanish confirms the connection.
  4. Open your streaming app. Sign in to the broadcaster separately and open the event or title. Your VPN subscription does not include a TV subscription, sports pass or pay-per-view purchase.

If playback fails or a VPN warning appears, follow the streaming provider’s guidance. It may require disconnecting the VPN. Do not buy a VPN on the assumption that it will unlock a particular service.

Streaming services can block VPNs. Access still depends on the service’s rules, your account and broadcast rights; a VPN cannot create a broadcast that does not exist.

Find out exactly which box you own

A model name is the starting point for a firmware request. Before looking for an update, record the model printed on the box, the Android version and the current build shown in its settings. Menu names differ between devices.

Keep the model information beside the instructions you find. A download for NVIDIA SHIELD or another named product is not presented here as an EBOX firmware replacement. If the instructions do not identify your hardware, check with its manufacturer before continuing.

  1. Record the product label, operating-system version and current build.
  2. Find the update or recovery documentation for that exact model.
  3. Keep a copy of any files you need before making system changes.

Google TV: use the built-in update check

For a device running Google TV, Google documents a system update check. This is a Google TV menu sequence; older Android boxes may use different menus.

  1. From the Google TV home screen, open Settings and select System.
  2. Choose About, then System update and Check for update.
  3. Install available updates using the on-screen instructions.

NVIDIA SHIELD: use its dedicated recovery resources

NVIDIA publishes recovery images for SHIELD users who want to return to the stock NVIDIA operating system. Its official resource page, linked below, explains where to find the downloads and device-specific instructions.
